OBTS-L: The OBTS ListServ

 

As a constantly developing community we are creating our own culture. Part of that continous creation process consists in members' free and vital interaction via our ListServ, OBTS-L. The process itself is fascinating to watch from an organizational perspective and can only enhance our understanding of the dynamics that shape an organization. We urge all OBTS members to join our online community.

Ours is an unmoderated list, meaning that postings appear on the list quickly, allowing ongoing dialogues to occur. The list does have an administrator, whose job is to assist you when you are having difficulties getting onto or off the list, and to deal with the occasional problem that might arise with some accounts.  Currently Gary Coombs servces as the OBTS-L administrator.

How to Subscribe

To subscribe, send a "clean" email (no subject entry, salutation, or signature) to LISTPROC@BUCKNELL.EDU with the one-line message

SUBSCRIBE OBTS-L  YourFirstName YourLastName

in the body of the email message.  So if your name is John Smith, send a message to the above address and put this in the text of your message:

SUBSCRIBE OBTS-L  John Smith

The email needs to be a text message, not an HTML-based message.  If you use Microsoft Outlook as your e-mail software, be sure that you select "Plain Text" as the format for you email message.  When you create a new email message, typically there is a drop-down menu just above the message (to the right of the send button) that allows you to choose between HTML, Rich Text, and Plain Text.  Make sure you select Plain Text.

How to Search the OBTS-L Archives

The listserver we use (hosted by Bucknell University) archives all OBTS-L submissions and provides a searchable database of past entries.  You can either search by keyword or browse through monthly compilations of discussion threads.  Click here to access the OBTS-L archive database.
